Rapidox 1100 Hydrogen Analyser

Product Information

The Rapidox 1100-H hydrogen (H2) gas analyser is the company’s most cost-effective and versatile hydrogen gas analyser fitted with a Thermal Conductivity gas Detector.

The Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD) is a state-of-the art German engineered sensor and is the most common and preferred solution for hydrogen measurement providing fast and accurate gas analysis over the range 0% to 100% H2 in simple binary gas systems where the hydrogen is mixed with another known background gas.  It is particularly suitable for aggressive industrial applications as long as the sample gas is filtered for dust and particles and is non-condensing.  The sensor has a 50°C heated sensor chamber to overcome drift caused by ambient temperature changes.  A common application is measuring the composition of hydrogen purge gas in gas-cooled turbines.

Product Information

TCD sensors (also known as Katharometers) are highly suitable for measuring gases that have a thermal conductivity value significantly different to air, as long as the gas mixture is simple.  Examples include H2 in mixtures of nitrogen (N2) or carbon dioxide (CO2).  The sensor can be factory calibrated for a specific gas mixture such as hydrogen in argon for example.

All Rapidox gas analysers used in flammable gas applications are fitted with an internal flashback arrestor as standard.

Please note that TCD sensors are not very reliable in complex gas mixtures where there are several gases with different thermal properties.  The TCD is an indirect sensor that measures the overall thermal conductivity of a gas and interprets this as a composition based on a factory calibration. The standard R1100-H hydrogen analyser is available in various ranges of H2 selected at the time of ordering.  The standard ranges are 0-10% and  0-100% in a background of nitrogen, with a choice of gas fittings on the front or rear of the instrument.  Upgrades to Swagelok fittings (1/4” or 6mm) are available at the time of order.  Each version is available with a choice of internal electric sample pump or vacuum ejector pump.

Special variations of the R1100-H model include:

1)         A stainless steel IP54 instrument version with 316 stainless steel instrument case and sealed gasket joints, designed primarily for the welding, food and pharma industries.

2)         A 4U bezel mounted version compatible with 19” rack mount systems.

Finally, the Rapidox 1100 hydrogen analyser complies with EMC Directive 2004 / 108 / EC. UL/ETL Certification Number: UL-61010-1.
